Different Music Videos

Over time the technology available to artists has contributed to the development of music videos; a more diverse range of videos have been produced in order to present their band/artist personality. The three main types of music promos which are commonly produced are performance, concept and narrative.

Performance Videos
A music video which many shows footage of the artist or band performing their songs is called a performance video. You would most commonly see them on a stage or maybe in a more casual environment; they would be miming their song lyrics throughout. This type of video is usually accompanied by indie rock or pop rock music. Also, depending on location, the financial side of this type of video would be the least expensive out of the three; the band would have to be well known as this video could be seen as boring.

Concept Videos
These videos are the more original, creative unusual ones, they base the video around an idea or theme and create an artistic feel to it. Many genres have used concept videos to promote their single and if done well, they can be very successful.

Narrative Videos
A video which is based around a story will usually match the content to the lyrics, whether it be exact or similar to the lyrics, it would be clear to see some sort of correlation. The style of the video does depend on the lyrics of the record; you would most likely see love songs accompanied by a romantic video of two people. You will often find that soundtracks will include scenes from the film in the video occasionally.

Animation Videos

These videos are rare but they still exist, whether they be hand drawn or composed by computer graphics they are extremely creative and entertaining.
